This work invites the question: if something exists (and can be experienced), what is its nature (quid sit)? And what is its quality (quale sit)? I am interested in the nature of sound—how it travels through the air and disappears so quickly. Through different mediums, I try to share this experience.

I explored the use of paper as a medium for sound propagation and sympathetic resonance. I created an installation where the audience could sit inside and directly experience the sound coming from the Campanula Quinton, as its vibrations were  connecting with the paper through bow hair attached to the instrument to the surface of the paper. In addition, other performers outside the installation played the paper, creating a more immersive sound experience.

The paper used in the installation was found in front of Voltastrasse 10 in Lucerne, where an old electromechanical repair company, founded in 1918, once operated. When the company moved to a new location in Basel, they left behind materials that had been untouched for years. This paper, with its milimetric characterists and scales , reminded me about the world of overtones and its propagation.  The history and memory of this paper and their old texture and color, became also an interesting part of the performance as it appealed for a present-focused experience with some  resonance of the past.
