In July 2024, I had the opportunity to work in Csabery., a small village in Hungary, in a friends studio. With an old piano and an arrangement of strings and objects, I elaborated a three stage installation connected by strings. Part of the piano keyboard was placed indoors, while the piano body was set up separately outdoors. This two spaces were connected by fishing lines, which were also attached to surrounding trees. This installation was used to be played by 7 people.
I intended to do an exploration of overtones and acoustic space by connecting fishing lines to different objects and corners. This strings were connected and overtones are generated, naturally amplifying of the sound. This investigation aims to practice achieving subtle intonations while intuitively exploring how to touch the strings, and simultaneously studying the mechanism of overtones based on the exploration of the texture, length, and tension of the strings.
This practice and research are primarily focused on the tour in Japan, which includes various stages and distances between objects, with specific spatial arrangements at each location. Notably, KD Japon, where the third concert will take place on September 24, 2024, in Nagoya, features a performance space structure with two levels. Our goal is to create a setup where the strings run between the two levels and can be played from both below and above
